After the Xiahe mandibular fossil was identified as the first Denisovan fossil outside of Denisovan Cave in 2019, the latest research on the Denisovan in the Baishiya cave site in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau caused a sensation in the international academic community. Significant progress-the site has preserved abundant remains of ancient human activities in the Middle Pleistocene and Late Pleistocene, and successfully obtained the first Denisovan mitochondrial gene sequence outside Denisovan Cave. Ancient DNA research revealed that Denisovan People lived on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau for a long time in the late Pleistocene.

Denisovans are a newly discovered group of ancient humans. They are sister groups with Neanderthals who were once widely distributed in Europe. They have genetic contributions to the indigenous populations of modern Oceania, East Asia, South Asia and America. Research hotspots of concern.

The latest research results of the Denisovans, jointly completed by the research team of Lanzhou University, the Institute of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, and Chinese and foreign counterparts, won the internationally renowned academic journal Science in the early morning of 30th Beijing time Published online.
