More open structures than during the first containment.

The State Secretariat for People with Disabilities assured this Friday that all medico-social establishments and services for disabled children and adults, as well as support services through work, will remain open during the second confinement.

This measure therefore applies to day schools and day centers, which had been closed in the spring, during the first confinement, as a precautionary measure and some 30,000 adults and 60,000 children had been deprived of their structure.

Visiting rights

For the Secretary of State, over the next few weeks it is a question of "guaranteeing people with disabilities the continuity of the reception and care they knew until now".

"The sanitary rules will be reinforced with a protocol which will be published soon," said a press release.

Boarding schools, where nearly 270,000 people with disabilities live, remained open but visits from relatives were prohibited.

As for nursing homes, the right of visits will be maintained this time but "supervised and by appointment".

People who live in structures will also be able to "return home on weekends, if no proven case of Covid-19 is present in the establishment or in the family".

Exemption for wearing a mask

Establishments and support services through work (Esat) as well as adapted enterprises (EA) also remain open, unless they are affected by administrative closure rules, in particular for the catering sector.

As during the first confinement, disabled people and their caregivers will be able to benefit from an exemption allowing them to travel for more than an hour per day.

The exemption for wearing a mask, for those who are not able to wear it, is also maintained on presentation of a medical certificate.

The toll-free number launched in the spring to support disabled people and their families encountering difficulties during confinement (0.800.360.360) also remains available, the same source added.
