317 publishers discuss the challenges of the publishing industry in the Arab world

With the participation of 317 publishers and 33 speakers from around the world, the tenth edition of the Publishers Conference, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority, will start tomorrow at the Expo Center Sharjah, and will continue until the third of next November.

The conference will discuss, over the course of eight dialogue sessions, the most prominent issues and challenges facing the publishing industry in the Arab world and the world, in light of the repercussions of the spread of the new Corona virus, and reviews the role of social media and virtual events in enhancing communication between publishers and readers around the world.

On its first day, the event will witness an opening speech by the Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, followed by a program of events led by a group of experts and specialists. Ways to face the challenges posed by the Corona crisis are discussed, while the second dialogue session revolves around ways to adapt the publishing industry to the requirements of the future, and the role of virtual events and social media in enhancing communication between publishers and readers around the world, where participants review their successful experiences in organizing events to communicate with readers.

In its last session, titled “Searching for a New Audience for Translated Books”, the conference will discuss the mechanism for reaching new readers for translated publications, followed by a session introducing the mechanism for participating in the translation grant allocated by the Sharjah International Book Fair to conference participants, which amounts to $ 300,000. .
