The new version of the

New Bible Translation

will be published in the autumn of 2021 and will

be

called

NBV21

, the Dutch Bible Society announced in a press release.

The latest

New Bible Translation

dates from 2004. According to Rieuwerd Buitenwerf, director of the Dutch and Flemish Bible Society, after the last translation thousands of responses were received with

suggestions

for improvement that are incorporated into the

NBV21

.

About twelve thousand amendments have been included

in the

NBV21

.

"The quality and strengths of the

NBV

come to the

fore

even more sharply

in the

NBV21

", says Buitenwerf.

The new translation took about three years.

The Dutch Bible Society, the association that deals with the translation of and information about the

Bible

, will launch a website on Thursday where readers can find more background information about all the changes.

One of the most notable changes, according to the press release, is the use of "reverence capital letters": capital letters in personal pronouns that refer to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

The

New Bible

with two million sold the most widely used translation in the Dutch language.

In 2016, the

NBV was

voted the 'Most Important Book' by the Dutch public.
