Gros sur le coeur

by Carène Ponte, published in November 2018 by the pocket editions Michel Lafon.

Her favorite quote:

“I go back through the history of the page, for almost three hours, I read each post, each comment which is like stabbing a raw wound.

"

Why this book?

  • Because Mélissa's story, inspired by the author's experience,

is told with great realism and sincerity.

The young girl, perhaps a little round and undoubtedly too fragile, has no confidence in herself, and the welcome given to her in her new high school will not help her.

From the first days she was the victim of reflections and mockery.

Very quickly, her "comrades" will nickname her Melissa bag of fat, plunging the young girl into a feeling of rejection, feeling belittled and then losing all self-esteem.

  • Because the mockery, which turns into harassment,

    becomes hell for Mélissa.

She comes to isolate herself, to refuse any discussion with her mother and to minimize the facts when she talks about it to her friend Camille.

At the same time, she seems to find some comfort from her German teacher.

Benevolent, kind, too seductive, is his attitude very innocent?

  • Because this novel will surely speak to many young girls who

feel bad about themselves, the ones we make fun of too easily at school.

The heroine highlights this feeling of not being like the others, of being apart, of being "less well".

This novel highlights the dramatic problem of bullying in school, the damage it can cause to young people.
