In the 1990s, a Korean film about female employees from high school graduates is energizing a stagnant theater district.

Today we have actors Go A-sung and director Lee Jong-pil from the movie <Samjin Group English TOEIC Class>.

Q. What kind of movie is'Samjin Group English TOEIC Class'?

[Go A-Sung/Actor: Samjin Group English TOEIC Class is a very unique film that fits its title.

It is about three friends who were at the end of a large company in Korea in the '95s taking a TOEIC class and discovering the company's corruption and uncovering the secret.]

Q. No. 1 box office after opening…

How do you feel?

[Orphan Sung/Actor: First of all, I went to the theater after a very long time and watched a movie, and that's even my movie, and that's even fun.

So, I was personally happy to see something like this fun movie in the theater after a long time, and I am so happy these days because the audience seems to like it.]

Q. Why was 1995 set as the background of the times?

[Lee Jong-pil/Director: This is actually the first year of globalization declared in 1995 during the Kim Young-sam administration, and the starting point of this film was actually about 95, in line with the era of globalization. The person who did this is the author who wrote the draft of this scenario.

I started there, so I set it to '95 because it actually happened.]

Q. Why did you decide to appear in this movie?

[Go A-Sung/Actor: First of all, this work was the next work of'Rebellion: The Story of Yu Gwan-soon'.

It was a very big experience that I couldn't say as an actor while filming a movie called Anti-go, but I wanted to meet some bright roles in the next movie.

I'm going to be influenced a lot by the characters who act, as well as my daily life.

So next time, how about meeting a bright role? I hope so. I had this desire, but I finally met this role.]

Q. Acting a woman 25 years ago...

Wasn't it difficult?

[Orphan Sung/Actor: I was born in 92 when I said that I was doing a movie with a background in 95.

But if you think about it, I was 4 years old, at the time.

So I didn't remember anything, and in a way, like a period drama, I really thought that I should prepare for acting by relying on material, but before shooting, I tried test makeup and outfit fitting.

At that time, I looked in the mirror with the perfect background outfit and makeup for '95, and it's definitely the platform of some working women in my memory.

I remember the working people I saw many times on the street without knowing it.

So I felt a little responsible at that time.

There are probably many people who really remember this, and I thought that people who experienced it could watch this movie.]

Q. The atmosphere of the 1990s has been well documented...

What is your focus on?

[Lee Jong-pil/Director of film: The most important thing we focused on was the atmosphere of a large company's workplace and office in the 90s.

Because this is a movie in a sense, there are probably many people who lived in the 90s.

(I am.) So when you saw this movie, you lived really hard in the 90's, whether it's a proof, a record, or something like that, so I took a lot of care to reproduce the atmosphere of the office.]

Q. How do you breathe with actors Lee Som and Park Hye-soo who played together?

[Orphan Sung/Actor: I think that was also incredibly good.

I did a sticky filming with a same-sex actor of my age.]

Q. Female narrative...

Wasn't it difficult as a male coach?

[Lee Jong-pil/Director: Yes, it was difficult.

So I wanted to do something. Oh, I don't know what I don't know, but since I'm not making a movie alone, there were a lot of women among our staff and there were actors, so I asked what was this, and said that it was like this. I made a movie while actively reflecting my opinions.]

[Orphan Sung/Actor: And you have a really feminine aspect.

So, you really understood the hearts of these three actresses so well, they are very delicate, and because you are a director from an actor, I think you understood the hearts of the actors well.]

Q. The 23rd year of their debut…

What does'actor' mean to you?

[Orphan Sung/Actor: The more I do, the more difficult it seems.

(Is that so? Why is that?) There is no right answer.

Well, I learned so much from actor Park Hye-soo, who is my junior in a way while filming a movie this time.

There are times when that friend is very plain and very serious about acting.

Looking at that, I really learned a lot, and in a way, I think acting is not an important job.]

Q. What role do you want to play in the future?

[Orphan Sung/Actor: I haven't played melo before.

(You haven't played melo?) Yes.

I'm probably looking forward to it in my 30s.

(Then, director Jong-pil Lee will have to solve it.)]

[Jong-pil Lee/Director of the film: Yes.

(Yes Yes.]
