It's the end of a nightmare for Catherine Oxenberg.

After nearly four years of struggling to get his daughter, India, out of the NXIVM sect, her guru, Keith Raniere, was sentenced to 120 years in prison.

The man was convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering, among others, as announced by prosecutor Richard P. Donoghue.

For Catherine Oxenberg, "it's a very happy moment".

“I've been on this warpath to get this man out of harm's way for three and a half years.

He always found a way out of everything, thanks to his money, his power and his privileges.

He had access to unlimited fortune and he used his power to silence the victims, intimidating, terrorizing, exploiting and abusing them - including my daughter, unfortunately, ”she explained to the Hollywood Reporter.

Keith Raniere used to attract them initially by offering to create a secret sorority to empower women, as revealed in 2017, The New York Times.

Another woman was on the victim's bench during the trial, who told the judge she was raped by the guru when she was 15.

Keith Raniere is not the only one to have been sentenced for the abuse suffered.

, has pleaded guilty to extortion and criminal conspiracy and is expected to be sentenced shortly.

Clare Bronfman, heiress of the Seagram spirits empire, has been sentenced to more than 6 years in prison.

Keith Raniere co-founded the NXIVM sect in 1998 with Nancy Salzman, who also pleaded guilty.

"By condemning [Keith Raniere] to 120 years in prison, the judge recognized how much this man is a danger to society and how impossible it is for this man to be rehabilitated", added Catherine Oxenberg, who said she was "proud From her daughter, who underwent "deprogramming" therapy after leaving the sect.
