In September, a source of contamination had already affected the Parc-Impérial - Mantega - Le Piol district in Nice.

Five cases of dengue had been recorded in the space of a few weeks.

This Wednesday, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Paca announces that the virus is currently circulating in Saint-Laurent-du-Var.

In this town bordering Nice, three indigenous cases (that is to say that the disease was contracted on the national territory and not in a contaminated zone) were detected in one month, specifies the organization.

The tiger mosquito, vector of the disease, is still there, even if “its activity is slowed down” at this time of year.

“Mosquito-free” living spaces

Mosquito control operations are therefore carried out "around places of residence, professionals and other places frequented" by infected people, also indicated Ars, without giving further details on their locations.

At the same time, the caregivers of Saint-Laurent-du-Var were mobilized for the diagnosis of possible other cases.

Complicated in this period of the second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic since the symptoms of dengue are similar (high fever of sudden onset, muscle or joint pain, headaches in particular).
