On October 28, local time, in Vladivostok, Russia, a participant of a Russian archaeological project discovered ichthyosaur fossil.

The fossil is on a boulder that was destroyed by Typhoon Messac.

Ichthyosaurs are large marine reptiles similar to fish and dolphins.

They lived in most of the Mesozoic era. They first appeared about 250 million years ago, slightly earlier than dinosaurs (230 million years ago), and they disappeared about 90 million years ago, about 25 million years before the extinction of dinosaurs.
