Yesterday, the exhibition "Abu Dhabi Art" revealed the details of the "Horizons: Emerging Artists" program, which every year forms a platform to showcase new commissioned works by emerging Emirati artists.

The current edition is being organized under the supervision of Maya Al Khalil, the curator, who chose to assign Hind Muzeinah, Afra Al Dhaheri and Afra Al Suwaidi to present their artworks in the program that will explore during its edition this year the topic of memory.

Artworks can be viewed on the Abu Dhabi Art website page throughout the exhibition, or at Manarat Al Saadiyat, as they will be displayed from November 19 until the end of next December.

Director of Abu Dhabi Art Gallery, Diala Nusseibeh, said: “The (Horizons: Emerging Artists) program represents a platform to enable young artists with exceptional talents from across the country to implement new and ambitious projects and present them to a wide audience. Our support for the local art environment comes as part of our mission in (Art) Abu Dhabi), and this project in particular constitutes one of our main initiatives in this regard.

For her part, the curator of "Afaq: Emerging Artists", Maya El-Khalil, said: “Throughout my work in recent years with emerging artists, I have developed a deep understanding about the emergence of artistic sense and the process of exploration. I have the knowledge to guide emerging artists by asking questions instead of answering them. », Indicating that she is working this year in the program with three talented artists: Hend Mazina, Afra Al Dhaheri and Afra Al Suwaidi.

"Together, we can realize the current changing reality of the world of art, as each artist will search, through her different creative sense, for how to present artistic experiences that simulate the memory of the local community," she added.

As part of her attempts to explore the topic of "Memory", the "Horizons: Emerging Artists" program will present a group of artistic works by creative Hind Mazina, based on multimedia archival materials, such as photographs and archival films, to achieve her desired goal of expressing the elements of collective memory, heritage and the state Emirates, and Hind usually describes her artwork as a form of "visual effects."

As for the artist Afra Al Dhaheri, starting to explore the formation of identity, she scatters strands of poetry, using her falling hair that she is keen to collect after its fall, and will rely on the use of a diverse mix of media to review the nuances of memory and history, while the artist Afra Al Suwaidi will work to reconfigure memories. Distracted visual, with the aim of embodying traumatic experiences in the same way as local architectural designs, and will present her artworks through a series of collage works, where time will be embodied in a chaotic state while pushing it away to another place.

• “Abu Dhabi Art” exhibition will be organized in its 12th edition, from 19 to 26 November, via a virtual platform. It includes a series of performances with the participation of a wide range of artists from around the world, within a number of exhibitions and galleries sections.
