16 ministries and agencies start studying to realize "basin hydraulic control" to reduce flood damage October 29, 6:35

In order to reduce the flood damage one after another, 16 ministries such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare have begun full-scale studies to promote "basin hydraulic control" that receives water in the entire river basin.

Following a series of floods such as Typhoon No. 19 last year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has shown the concept of "basin hydraulic control" to receive water in the entire basin by using not only the construction of dams and embankments but also the land along the river.

On the other hand, the issue is that there are multiple ministries and agencies that have jurisdiction over facilities in the river basin. Then the first study meeting was held.

At the study group, policies for future measures were confirmed, such as the utilization of paddy fields and ponds in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the promotion of relocation of facilities for the elderly in flooded areas in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

Tomoo Inoue, director of the Water Management and Land Conservation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, said, "There are many parts of water control measures that are complicated and difficult to do. We would like to work together to realize basin water control." I was talking.
