Why this book?
Because it is an inspiring novel whose central theme, school bullying,
is brought with intelligence by Laura Bates.
However, it is not the only important theme raised here and the author manages to convey many messages - notably on consent - without overwhelming her reader for a single second.
Because we meet Anna, a secret teenager
who hides a lot of things about her past.
Under the pressure of a sluggish boyfriend, the latter revealed herself more than she wanted and subsequently discovered, to her dismay, that her intimate photos were leaked on social networks.
It is the beginning of the turmoil for this touching young woman who, despite being a victim, is seen as deserving of what is happening to her by many of her comrades who will not hesitate to make her life hell.
Because the author had the excellent idea of making her heroine lead
an "adventure" with fantastic touches resonating with what she undergoes every day.
The reader and Anna therefore find themselves investigating a mysterious pendant that once belonged to a young woman accused of witchcraft.
So a touch of Scottish Witch Hunt from the 17th century spices up this already emotional novel and gives it an unexpected and strangely refreshing fantastic touch.
