Qinghua Sea has a long history and was once an ocean in ancient times. When Ming Dynasty writer Yang Shen retired to Baoshan, he named it "Qinghua Sea" in the sense of "East Extreme Qinghua Land".
The Qinghuahai Wetland was once degraded due to the reclamation of lakes and the management of floods.
In recent years, Baoshan City has adhered to the systematic management of “landscapes, forests, fields, lakes and grasses” and built the Qinghuahai National Wetland Park at the end of 2016, which has now become a green space shared by the public.
Qinghuahai is located in the overlapping area of the international migratory bird migration routes. With the restoration and improvement of the wetland environment, it has attracted more than 20,000 migratory birds, including the world's critically endangered pochard, to overwinter here.
