Ahead of the premiere of the new Borat film last week, The Kazakh American Association sent a letter to Amazon distributing the film, Variety writes.

The organization questions that what they perceive as an openly racist film may be shown.

They write that the previous Borat film, which was released in 2006, caused children of Kazakh origin to be teased at school.

The organization writes that:

"Mr.

Cohen believes that his main target audience is Trump and racist Americans.

If that were the case, he would have created a fantasy land, as he did in the film The Dictator.

But Mr.

Cohen chose to openly mock, humiliate and dehumanize a real nation. "

Responds to criticism

Sacha Baron Cohen responded to the criticism in The New York Times.

"This is a comedy, and the Kazakhstan in the film has nothing to do with the real country."

writes the filmmaker and continues:

"I chose Kazakhstan because it was a place that almost no one in the United States knew anything about, which made it possible for us to create a wild, comic pretend world.

The real Kazakhstan is a beautiful country with a modern and proud society - the opposite of Borat's version. "
