On October 26th, researcher Xu Guanghui from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences presented his latest paleontological research results-the oldest known verrucodon fish fossil in the world was discovered in Luoping, Yunnan, named " Yunnan Storm Fish".

With a body length of 34 cm, it is the largest known carnivorous basic neofin fish in the Luoping biota 244 million years ago (Middle Triassic Anichian), occupying a high position in the food chain.

The discovery and research of "Yunnan Stormfish" updated people's understanding of the food chain network structure of the Luoping Biota and Triassic biological recovery.

This important paper in the field of paleontological evolution has been published in the latest issue of the international academic journal PeerJ.
