[Explanation] On October 26, the promotion meeting for the application and creation of the Qinghai Kamba Global Geopark was held in Xining, Qinghai.
[Explanation] It is understood that Qinghai Jianzha Kambula Danxia Peak Forest Geopark is located on the northeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The Danxia landform in the park is among the Neoteric rock formations discovered so far in China, with the most complete and typical development. The Danxia landform area is a treasure house of Cenozoic geological and historical relics in East Asia and even the world. It is also an area that plays a key role in the protection of biodiversity on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, soil and water conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, and water conservation.
In 2020, the Cambra Geopark was shortlisted as one of the "Global Geopark Application Units recommended to UNESCO in 2022".

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a large testing ground for scientific research and nature protection in China. Kambula is one of the resources. It retains very good Danxia landforms and some large canyons of the Yellow River. [Explanation] Suonan Dajie, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Kambula Scenic Area, said that the application for the creation of the Kambula Global Geopark is to rely on an international platform to effectively protect the geological heritage of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Whether in terms of geology, ecology, humanities or history, Qinghai Kambula Geopark has high scientific research and protection value.
At present, the creation of the declaration is in progress in an orderly manner.

The on-site survey personnel have entered, and are now collecting geological relics and some geological specimens. The next step is to complete an application for UNESCO. In the later stage, we will hire some experts from any part of the country.
[Explanation] Zhai Xiaoquan, a member of the Qinghai Provincial Expert Group, told reporters that actively applying for the Kambula Global Geopark is in line with the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. It can also improve the connotation and taste of tourism in the region where the Geopark is located, and promote the development of local tourism. Develop and gradually own a world brand and reputation.
