"He fights for the defense of a deviated and radical vision of a religion by a relativist discourse", declared Marlène Schiappa, in response to a question on the words of the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer denouncing "the devastation "of" Islamo-leftism "at the university conveyed, according to him, by LFI in particular.

She further ruled that "some" in rebellious France were "not clear on these questions" of secularism.

A controversial demonstration

One of the main criticisms made by his opponents to Jean-Luc Mélenchon is his participation, on November 10, 2019, in the demonstration “against Islamophobia” to which Marwan Muhammad, ex-leader of the Collectif contre l'islamophobie in France.

The CCIF, including Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, is today asking for its dissolution.

During the rally in Paris on October 18 in tribute to Professor Samuel Paty, former PS Prime Minister Manuel Valls had also pointed to "Islamo-leftism", which "has shown great complacency towards of political Islam ”.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon has "a very great responsibility in this cowardice of the left" in the face of Islamism, he had estimated.

During this rally, the number one of the rebels, whom his opponents accuse of a certain complacency for political Islam, in the hope of conquering the Muslim populations of working-class neighborhoods, hardened his speech to denounce "Islamist terrorism" and called for "expelling" the Chechens who act on the ground of "political Islamism".
