The Head of State will then convene, Wednesday morning, a new Defense Council dedicated to the epidemic, the same source said, while the second wave of Covid-19 is blazing in France.

The two meetings planned around the head of government on Tuesday after the first Defense Council are intended to discuss "the tightening envisaged in the management of the health crisis" of Covid-19, Matignon told AFP.

The presidents of the two chambers, the party leaders, the presidents of the parliamentary groups and the presidents of the main associations of elected officials are invited to the head of government at 5.30 p.m.

The social partners will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The hypothesis of a reconfinement

Such consultations, similar to others organized in recent weeks, seem to precede the announcement of a new turn of the screw, which could then be recorded on Wednesday morning.

Sign of an acceleration of the schedule in the face of a health situation which is deteriorating very quickly in France and elsewhere in Europe, Emmanuel Macron postponed Monday a trip he was to make the next day in Creusot (Saône-et-Loire) on nuclear power civil and military.

Unimaginable just 15 days ago, the hypothesis of a new confinement six months after the first is now taking shape in the face of a second "brutal" wave of Covid-19, which could even be "stronger than the first", according to the President of the Scientific Council, Jean-François Delfraissy.
