The Barges of Lyon

The cleaning operations are linked in Lyon to purify the waters of the Rhône and the Saône of their bulky waste.

On Saturday, the Les Péniches de Lyon collective set out to retrieve anything that could have been casually thrown into the Saône, near the nautical basin of the Confluence district.

Results: 3 tons of waste left the river in a few hours.

In detail, 70 scooters, 2 kilos of metal capsules, 220 kilos of glass bottles, a kilo of cigarette butts were brought to the surface.

"The rest has not been weighed", indicates the collective.

Namely aluminum cans, plastic bottles, cups and various scrap metal such as barriers, pipes or engine parts.

Masks "in huge quantities"

The only novelty compared to the previous edition organized last year: masks "in huge quantities" were also rescued.

And a suitcase full of clothes.

On Saturday, 16 associations took part in this cleaning operation in collaboration with the town hall of the 2e de Lyon.
