An online event to please the decision to enter into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Tokyo NGO October 25, 13:30

Following the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, an NGO in Tokyo held a commemorative event online to share joy with A-bomb survivors and stakeholders around the world.

The event was held by the Tokyo NGO "Peace Boat," which is participating in the ICAN = International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, which contributed to the creation of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

At the event, A-bomb survivors and officials from all over the world sent messages about the implications of the treaty coming into effect.

Of these, music critic Reiko Yukawa, who has been involved in activities for the abolition of nuclear weapons for many years, sent a message in the video, "I'm really happy that I was able to take the first step toward the dream of abolishing nuclear weapons. As an experiencer, I thought it was different that Japan did not ratify the treaty. From today, I think that the world can unite to counter the threat of life as a nuclear weapon for the future. "I will."

In addition, Setsuko Thurlow, a survivor of Hiroshima, who lives in Canada, participated on the phone and said, "I was trembling with joy and my heart was full and I couldn't speak. I strongly feel that I am responsible. I would like all of you in Japan to work with us and encourage the government to join the treaty. "

The event will be held until 9 pm on the 25th and will be live-streamed on the video posting site YouTube.
