Lassina Traoré will never forget this October 24, 2020. The Burkinabè has entered the history of Dutch football.

The 19-year-old striker scored five goals and delivered three assists in Ajax Amsterdam's very large 13-0 victory (a record) at VVV Venlo.

Almost as good as Marco van Basten

The native of Bobo-Dioulasso thus became the first Ajax player to score at least five goals in a Dutch Championship meeting (Eredivisie) since the legendary Marco van Basten (six registered in 1985).

He is also the first for his club, since Frenkie de Jong in 2017, gave three assists in an Eredivisie game (Source: Opta).

This quintuplet has highlighted one of the great hopes of African football.

The former resident of Rahimo FC (Burkina Faso), who made a detour through the subsidiary of Ajax Amsterdam in South Africa, Ajax Cape Town, displayed part of his technical palette: pass (12th) and headed goals (17th, 66th);

times at close range (33rd, 54th, 87th);

altruism towards the Brazilian Anthony (55th) and Daley Blind (60th)…

And now the Champions League

Next meeting for the Stallion: the Champions League match against Atalanta Bergamo, on October 27 in Italy.

Lassina Traoré has not yet scored in this competition.
