Restoration of the "Dairyu Pillar" that survived the fire at Shurijo Castle in Okinawa begins October 23, 16:09

A year before the fire that broke out at Shurijo Castle in Naha City on the 31st of this month, the full-scale restoration work of the "Dragon Pillar", a pillar in the shape of a dragon that survived the fire, will begin on the 23rd. It starts from and is open to the public.

The two pillars called "Dairyu Pillars" in front of the "Shoden" of Shuri Castle survived while standing while the main buildings were completely destroyed by the fire that broke out in October last year.

However, due to the fire, more than 160 cracks were confirmed in each of the two pillars, and the country responsible for the reconstruction of Shurijo Castle moved to a hut on the premises and started full-scale from the 23rd. Restoration work has begun.

The state of the restoration work was open to the public, and a professional technician was injecting resin into the cracked part with a syringe.

At Shurijo Castle, a new Dairyu pillar will be produced separately, and the pillar restored this time will be a sample.

The restoration work is scheduled to be completed in the middle of next month, and construction supervisor Yonamine Moriaki of the National Okinawa Memorial Park Office said, "I want many people to see what can only be seen now."
