Misjudgment such as blood test at National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry Hospital October 23, 17:15

At the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry Hospital in Kodaira, Tokyo, it was found that due to a mistake in the description of the electronic medical record, the judgment of normal and abnormal values such as blood tests was mistaken for more than 7 years.

There were more than 460 mistakes, but it did not affect the treatment.

According to the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry Hospital, the error in the electronic medical record was the result of a blood test conducted from December 2012 to 15th of last month.

Of these, 19 items in total for determining the risk of esophageal cancer and osteoporosis had incorrect standard values.

As a result, there were 322 cases in which it was judged to be a normal value even though it was originally an abnormal value, or conversely it was judged to be an abnormal value even though it was a normal value, and a total of 467 cases were confirmed.

It means that there was no effect on the treatment.

The hospital alleges that the reason for the mistake was that the person in charge overlooked the notification to change the standard value from the company that outsourced the test, or entered the standard value incorrectly. ..

At the press conference, Kazuyuki Nakagome, director of the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, said, "This is a problem that should not occur, and we would like to work to prevent recurrence by having multiple staff members check it regularly."
