China News Service, Hong Kong, October 23. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Development Bureau Harbour Office and the Waterfront Affairs Committee announced on the 23rd the winning works of the "Victoria Harbor" font art installation design competition and the waterfront public furniture design competition.

Iconic font art installations and 20 sets of public furniture designed by citizens will be launched in multiple locations on both sides of the Victoria Harbour in the next six months.

The "Victoria Harbour" font art installation design competition received nearly 100 entries. The winning work is the "Hong Kong Light" designed by the team of young architect Huang Fanhui.

The design of this work is inspired by the grid design of traditional Chinese window frames and screen craftsmanship, which can permeate sunlight and make the installation present different feelings under different weather conditions.

The work uses luminous colored bold fonts to reflect the iconic lighting of Victoria Harbour at night.

The above installation is expected to be displayed in the "East Bank Park Theme Area" east of the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter in the first half of next year. The whole work is about 40 meters long and about 3 meters high.

The Waterfront Public Furniture Design Competition selected 20 groups of highly creative and Hong Kong-specific works, which are expected to be displayed in different places on both sides of the Victoria Harbour from the end of this year.

Wu Yongshun, Chairman of the Waterfront Affairs Committee, said that the waterfront is not only a recreational space for viewing the sea, but also a place for creative arts.

The two design competitions combine community participation and folk creativity to allow citizens to build the waterfront together, which will help enhance the community's sense of belonging to the waterfront.
