After three days of relaxation of the rules, wearing a mask in the street has become compulsory again in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.

A new decree was published this Tuesday, October 20 by the prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône, Christophe Mirmand.

This new text re-establishes the obligation to wear a mask between 6 am and 2 am, “for any person eleven years of age or over who is on the public highway or in a place open to the public.

"

This decree therefore tightens the health measures in force in the department, since since a previous decree dated October 17, the mask was only mandatory outside in markets, near shops and schools.

Since Tuesday, this legislation remains in force only in the other municipalities of Bouches-du-Rhône.

In Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, on the other hand, only people with disabilities are exempt from wearing a mask in the street.

This exemption also applies in classified natural areas, when traveling on a two-wheeler or when practicing a sporting activity.
