Even if you haven't walked to the Yungang Grottoes, you can still see this sculpture in person, just like standing in front of the Grottoes to see this Yungang sculpture.

[Explanation] Recently, the Mogao Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes, and Longmen Grottoes in Dunhuang, China have broken the space barriers that cannot move the carvings of the grottoes.

For the first time, China's three major grottoes "gathered together" for a joint exhibition in the ancient capital Luoyang.

Exquisite cultural relics, 3D printed cave niches, cave VR...technological methods allow viewers to be on the scene and experience the appearance of the sky, carving and painting skills more than a thousand years ago.

This 3D printed one can be touched without affecting it, and it can reflect the tactility of the sandstone carvings of the Northern Wei Dynasty at that time. The printed statue of a Bodhisattva on the pillars of Cave 6 has a relatively high degree of restoration, including the smile at the corner of the mouth clear.

And after the 3D printing, a layer of mortar was sprayed on the surface of the sculpture, which more realistically restored the sandstone carvings and Yungang sandstone carving skills of the time.

Each of the three grottoes is protected by art, and this is the first time that the three grottoes are exhibited together.

It can be said that you go to a museum and have a taste of the artistic essence of the three grottoes.

[Explanation] As a historical and cultural heritage on the Silk Road, the Buddhist Cave Temple vividly displays the rich silk road culture.

It is reported that Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Longmen Grottoes, and Yungang Grottoes were listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987, 2000, and 2001 respectively. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Longmen Grottoes being included in the World Heritage List.

According to reports, the exhibition is hosted by Longmen Grottoes Research Institute, Dunhuang Research Institute, and Yungang Grottoes Research Institute, and will last until January 18, 2021.

Digital technology has actually opened up a new field and category for the research and display of cultural relics.

This three cave joint exhibition actually embodies the comprehensive display function of this technology.

It moved the ones that couldn't be moved, and looked at the ones that couldn't be seen carefully.

Although it is a print, it is closer to a copy of the original, so that ordinary viewers can see the glory of ancient China.
