The now historic moment was captured by Reuters photographer Dylan Martinez and has inspired composer James B. Wilson to create the classic piece of music Remnants which also contains spoken word by the poet Yomi Sode.

The work was performed to an audience for the first time on Monday by The Chineke!

orchestra.

Patrick Hutchinson was a member of the audience at the Royal Festival Hall in London to take part in the work.

He thinks that the music and poetry reflect the events of the protests very well.

- That day it was hectic in the melee.

Very much confusion.

It was a mixture of love and hate.

There were people who tried to protect him, but also those who wanted him badly, he says and continues:

- And that is in line with what happened in the concert hall.

I felt it.

I felt it strongly.

"The history of black composers forgotten"

The Chineke!

orchestra is an ethnically mixed group of musicians and their goal is to promote diversity in the classical music genre.

- The history of black composers in what we call classical music is really forgotten.

But I think there is a strong drive in the industry to correct that mistake and to welcome everyone into the classical music world, says the composer behind the work Remnants, James B. Wilson.

The work will be streamed via the South Bank Center in November.
