Film studio Universal Pictures plans
to stop
the
Fast & Furious
film series after the eleventh part,
Deadline
reports
Tuesday.
Parts ten and eleven would tell a story together.
According to
Deadline
, Vin Diesel would again star in parts ten and eleven of the action films about illegal street racing and criminal activities.
Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, rapper Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang would also return in the film series that began in 2001.
Justin Lin would also direct the last two parts after five previous films in the series.
A possible role for Dwayne Johnson has not been announced.
Fast & Furious 9
can be seen in Dutch cinemas from 27 May.
Diesel's character Dominic Toretto gets into a fight with a hitman in part 9.
The first eight films of
Fast & Furious
together raised more than 5.8 billion dollars (more than 5 billion euros).
This makes it one of the most successful film series in history.
The 23 Marvel films, including
Avengers: Endgame
, lead the ranking, with a total of more than 22 billion dollars (more than 19 billion euros).
