Up to 200 km / h in the mountains

If the storm has not yet formed over the Atlantic, strong winds have already been recorded on several Pyrenean peaks, specifies Météo France, with in particular 192 km / h in Iraty and 146 km / h in Soum, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and 156 km / h at the top of the Pic du Midi (Hautes-Pyrénées).

Météo France anticipates during the next night "gusts on the ridges between 160 and 200 km / h, 100 to 130 km / h in medium mountains" and up to 100 km / h in the valleys.

Calm should gradually return during the morning on Wednesday.

This is the second storm of the year, after the passage of the storm Alex, which had caused strong winds in Brittany and especially torrential rains which had resulted in the death of at least five people in the valleys of the Vésubie and de la Roya, in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The floods, on October 2, had literally devastated parts of the affected valleys, for damage estimated at at least one billion euros.
