A media marathon that questions.

A 12-year-old schoolboy has been interviewed several times on different television channels to comment on the terrorist act in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine and the assassination of Professor Samuel Paty.

The Yvelines department condemned on Tuesday what it denounces as "media overexposure".

“The face, the words and the identity of a young 12-year-old college student were unveiled without authorization by a large number of media asking him to speak out after the tragedy.

However, this minor is taken care of, by the services of social assistance to the children of the department of Yvelines, under a measure of educational assistance ordered by the judge of the children.

"

We owe the first testimony of this young boy, simple and touching, to a freelance journalist who posted the video on Twitter on Saturday after a rally in front of the victim's college.

Covered and commented thousands of times, the video has caught the attention of shows like

C à vous

, and BFM TV, among others.

Liberation

also dedicated a portrait to the teenager.

Without authorization

“To date, the holders of the exercise of parental authority have not given any authorization for him to be interviewed, nor for his face and identity to be revealed, both in written and audiovisual media, but also on the Web or social networks, specifies the Yvelines department.

It turns out that to respond to the various media requests, the young minor was accompanied by an educator and a doctor, who would have given, verbally, their authorization for his interview.

However, not only were these two people never authorized to issue such an authorization, but the association which employs them had also previously notified them of this lack of authorization.

Several voices were raised from October 17 to denounce this media exposure which could endanger the young man, educated in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

"The department asks the various media to stop broadcasting the interview with this young person, to remove it from all media so as not to expose him further, and reserves the right, in the event of inaction, to engage the civil and criminal proceedings in the interest of the minor, ”concludes the Yvelines press release.
