Can Gansu build roads and dig down ancient tombs of the Tang Dynasty

Gansu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau: Reported to the police and organized expert appraisal overnight

Recently, a Weibo netizen posted a video stating that an ancient tomb in the late Tang Dynasty was discovered during the construction of the expressway in Tianshui, Gansu. It is suspected that the damage caused by the construction has caused serious damage to the protection of cultural relics.

The video publisher said that the situation has been reported to the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology.

On October 20th, the Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News reporter learned from the Gansu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau that the Cultural Relics Bureau had sent experts to the scene overnight on the 19th, "preliminarily confirmed from the video (from the Tang Dynasty)".

At present, the Gansu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau has reported the case, and the public security organ has filed a case for investigation.

"Our cultural relic appraisal experts have already gone to the scene, and the results have not yet come back."

According to a video circulating on the Internet, “Recently, an excavator dug out a brick mural tomb at the construction site of the Boyang Township Expressway in Tianshui, Gansu. The overall structure of this tomb was severely damaged by the excavator, and now there is only half of the tomb. It can be seen that there is a painted mural on the wall, which is a portrait of a male Huren."

The Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News reporter noticed that the background in the video was a construction site with multiple excavators and earth-moving trucks parked.

In an excavated earth wall, the murals of suspected ancient figures are colorful and eye-catching.

In addition to the characters in the murals, there is a faint text on the wall.

According to the video, "A few lines of text were left on one wall of the tomb. Although the text is not very clear, it is vaguely able to read the words'Qian Fu Four Years'.'Qian Fu' is Li Zong of the late Tang Dynasty. The video also inferred that those who were able to build a brick mural tomb at that time were usually rich or noble. The owner of the tomb "presumably was a general or a scholar-official."

The Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News reporter contacted the publisher of this Weibo and told the reporter that he was not the photographer of this video, but only saw the video on the Internet and reported the situation to the relevant authorities.

The other party suggested that the reporter contact the local cultural relics department.

At present, the Weibo has been deleted.

An informed netizen told the Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News reporter that he was angry when he saw this information on the Internet. According to the information he learned from Tianshui Archaeology, "the tomb was seriously damaged."

The netizen also revealed that the Gansu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau has stepped in and the person in charge of the construction party who destroyed the tomb has been detained.

Subsequently, the Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News reporter called the Gansu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau. A staff member of the Cultural Relics Conservation and Archaeology Department told the reporter that the Cultural Relics Bureau sent experts to the scene overnight. "The information we received yesterday, we I immediately sent someone over and reported the case at the same time. The public security organ has filed the case and is also investigating. It is initially confirmed from the video (from the Tang Dynasty). Our cultural relic appraisal experts have already gone to the scene. The result is still not there. Feedback back. Only after the experts' conclusions come out will we know what era it is." At the same time, the staff member said that according to the information they received, the responsible persons have been controlled.

A staff member of the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology rushed to the scene told the Chengdu Commercial Daily-Red Star News reporter that the relevant departments have been involved at present and it is not convenient to disclose it. The specific situation will be released to the public.
