On October 20, 1880, the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard received its first spectators. The building was designed in a traditional place for show shows by the famous architect August Weber. After the revolution, the circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard became the first state circus. Oleg Popov, Karandash (Mikhail Rumyantsev), Leonid Yengibarov, Emil Kio and many other artists performed on his arena. By 1989, the building was rebuilt and modernized. Since 1996, the circus has been named after Yuri Nikulin.
