Curfew: 3,019 verbalizations, 19,300 checks -

FRED SCHEIBER / SIPA

A first assessment after a weekend of curfew.

This measure, which entered into force on Saturday in order to fight against the spread of the coronavirus and which prohibits all travel in Paris and in eight metropolises from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., gave rise to "3,019 verbalizations", announced Monday Gérald Darmanin.

"There were 19,300 checks", specified the Minister of the Interior on TF1, of "citizens but also establishment checks, and there were 3,019 verbalizations".

Any offender is liable to a fine of 135 euros then, in the event of a double recidivism (three frauds in total), six months in prison and a fine of 3,750 euros.

Certificates to provide exit

As a reminder, the Ile-de-France as well as the metropolitan areas of Lyon, Lille, Toulouse, Montpellier, Saint-Etienne, Aix-Marseille, Rouen and Grenoble are concerned.

As during the spring confinement weeks, people leaving during curfew must bring travel certificates with them, and only if they have valid reasons for traveling - work, near the hospital, etc.

The number of checks and that of verbalizations prove "that the police and the gendarmerie are there, and that the French are attentive to the sanitary conditions that the President of the Republic wished", added Gerald Darmanin.

“Almost all of this curfew is respected.
