A history-geography professor was beheaded on Friday in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), around 5 p.m., near the college where he taught.
The 18-year-old murder suspect was killed by police in the nearby town of Eragny (Val-d'Oise).
He was unknown to the intelligence services for radicalization, according to our information, but was known for common law offenses.
The National Antiterrorist Prosecutor's Office immediately seized upon the investigation, opened for "assassination in connection with a terrorist enterprise" and "criminal terrorist association".
Emmanuel Macron gave a speech in front of the college of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine where the professor taught.
He assured: "Obscurantism and the violence that accompanies it will not win, we will unite.

9:30 am: Five new people in custody
They were arrested overnight from Friday to Saturday, bringing the total number of people in police custody to nine.
Among the five new people are two parents of a student - a man and his wife - from the college where the victim worked.
These people had a dispute with the teacher over the caricatures of Muhammad that the teacher had shown in class.
Three people from the assailant's non-family circle were also arrested.
Four other people, including a minor, from the suspect's family circle, had previously been arrested in Evreux (Eure).
