Tackling poverty alleviation and providing Chinese solutions for the world's poverty reduction

  ■ Editorial

As the world's largest developing country, China has accelerated the reduction of its own poverty population, which is the biggest contribution to the world's poverty reduction. The precise poverty alleviation experience in China can also provide reference for other developing countries.

October 17 is the International Day for the Elimination of Poverty and the seventh national day for poverty alleviation in my country.

At the end of the year of poverty alleviation and the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the arduousness and importance of my country's poverty alleviation work has become more prominent.

However, in the face of the impact of the epidemic and the pressure of “six stability” and “six guarantees”, our poverty alleviation and poverty reduction goals have not changed.

At the symposium on decisive victory over poverty alleviation held in March this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly instructed that by 2020, all rural poor people under the current standards will be lifted out of poverty. This is a solemn promise made by the Party Central Committee to the people of the whole country. It must be fulfilled as scheduled, without any Retreat and flexibility.

From the data point of view, despite the impact of external unfavorable factors such as the epidemic, this year's poverty alleviation work continues to advance along the expected goals.

For example, as of the end of last month, the 52 listed Duzhan counties had 2.9568 million poor laborers migrants in 2020, which was 116.2% of the number of migrant workers last year; 25 provinces had migrant laborers of 29,344,100 poor laborers, which was 107.52 of the number of migrant workers last year. %; 22 provinces in the central and western regions have identified a total of 117574 poverty alleviation products, involving 1,778 counties and 33976 suppliers, with sales of 171.518 billion yuan...

The steady performance in the year of poverty alleviation is actually a microcosm of my country's poverty alleviation and poverty reduction efforts in recent years.

In particular, since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, poverty alleviation has been included in the overall strategy of building a moderately prosperous society as a bottom-line task and a landmark indicator. It has achieved unprecedented efforts. Precision poverty alleviation and poverty alleviation have also been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and achieved remarkable results.

By the end of February this year, 601 out of the 832 poverty-stricken counties across the country had announced that they had taken off their hats, and the overall regional poverty was basically resolved; the per capita net income of poor households with registered cards increased from 3,416 yuan in 2015 to 9,808 yuan in 2019. The average annual growth rate is 30.2%.

This achievement of poverty alleviation has also attracted the attention of the world.

World Bank President Jin Yong once stated that China's poverty reduction achievements are one of the greatest events in human history.

As the world’s largest developing country, China’s poverty reduction is an important part of the world’s poverty reduction. China’s acceleration of the reduction of its own poor population is the greatest contribution to the world’s poverty reduction.

And China's targeted poverty alleviation work also provides China's experience and Chinese solutions for the world's poverty reduction.

For example, in terms of industrial poverty alleviation, the cultivation of new agricultural business entities, financial poverty alleviation opened green channels for agricultural enterprises in poverty-stricken areas to go public, and ecological poverty alleviation has various models such as characteristic ecological industrial poverty alleviation and ecological compensation.

To this end, UN Secretary-General Guterres stated that China’s experience in targeted poverty alleviation can provide useful reference for other developing countries.

Of course, "getting out of poverty is not the end, but the starting point for a new life and a new struggle."

Last year's Central Document No. 1 also proposed that it is necessary to plan as soon as possible the strategic thinking after the completion of the poverty alleviation goal and task in 2020, and to consolidate the development results through the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy for the poor counties after the removal.

The most urgent task at the moment is to work harder, stand on the last post, and do a good job in the final year.

It should be noted that the remaining poverty alleviation tasks seem to be small in total, but "all are the poverty in the poverty, the poverty in the poverty, and they are the hardest bones to chew."

On the one hand, it is necessary not only to get rid of poverty with one hand, but also to prevent poverty from returning to poverty with the other.

For example, according to preliminary surveys in various regions, nearly 2 million people who have been lifted out of poverty are at risk of returning to poverty, and nearly 3 million among marginalized people are at risk of becoming poverty.

On the other hand, this year not only must overcome the impact of the epidemic, as more and more poor people are lifted out of poverty, and the poor counties will lift their hats and the end is imminent, we must also try to avoid laziness and formalism.

The “Decisive Victory of Poverty Alleviation” symposium clearly reminded that formalism and bureaucracy continue to be banned, digital poverty alleviation and false poverty alleviation still occur, and the problems of “one shot” and “one point” have not been effectively resolved in some areas.

These are all difficulties that must be overcome in the sprint stage.

"It is simple at the beginning, and it will be great when it is finished." The fight against poverty is a tough battle, and it can't be achieved easily and with drums and gongs. The more you must concentrate and work hard at the last moment. In order to "be good at the beginning and end, be good at good work"

The Charge has been sounded, let us work hard along the established goal and successfully hand in the "poverty alleviation answer sheet" that will determine the overall well-off.
