Japan Coast Guard unmanned aerial vehicle demonstration test started off Sanriku, etc. October 15, 12:10

The Japan Coast Guard began a demonstration experiment on the 15th to verify whether unmanned aerial vehicles can be used for searching for marine accidents and monitoring suspicious ships.

At the Self-Defense Forces Hachinohe Air Base in Aomori Prefecture, which is the base of the demonstration experiment, an unmanned aerial vehicle with a total length of about 12 meters and a width of 24 meters appeared on the runway after 10 am on the 15th.

This unmanned aerial vehicle is a propeller aircraft "Sea Guardian" developed by American defense company "General Atomics" for marine research. It runs on the runway, takes off, slowly turns over the sky, and conducts experiments. I went offshore.

According to the Japan Coast Guard, this aircraft has the ability to fly continuously for more than a full day and make one round of the outermost part of Japan's exclusive economic zone, so in the experiment it was taken with a camera off Sanriku and the Sea of Japan. Check if the video arrives in real time and if there are any problems with flight safety.

This means that the aircraft will not fly over a residential area except for takeoff and landing.

The Japan Coast Guard will conduct an experiment until the 10th of next month to verify whether it can be used for searching for marine accidents and for monitoring and cracking down on suspicious ships.
