Suttsu-cho, Hokkaido, has been selected as the first stage of a three-stage survey this month regarding the selection of a final disposal site to bury high-level radioactive waste from spent nuclear fuel at nuclear power plants, so-called "nuclear waste." I applied.



After that, NUMO referred to the data of the national "scientific characteristic map" and checked whether there was any problem in entering the survey, but finally confirmed that the survey could be carried out. ..



NUMO will send this result to the town on the 15th.



In addition, NUMO has already confirmed the data for Kamoenai Village, Hokkaido, which has announced that it will accept the literature search.



For this reason, if the approval procedures of the remaining countries proceed smoothly, it is expected that a literature search will begin in two local governments in Hokkaido by the end of this year.



In the literature survey, reports and academic papers from academic societies and national research institutes on geology will be collected to check for active faults and volcanoes in the vicinity.
