It's a never-ending nightmare for some, a chilling word for others.

Bedbugs are the pests most feared by the French, according to a poll by the Odoxa polling institute published in

Le Figaro

in 2019. Indeed, 48% of those surveyed fear bedbugs when they were only 8% to have had to face them.

Last week, Marseille LREM MP Cathy Racon-Bouzon submitted a report on bedbugs to Housing Minister Emmanuelle Wargon.

Listing certain measures which would make it possible to better organize the fight against the phenomenon which is rotting the lives of many French people.

Interviewed by our colleague from Marseille, the deputy did not go back and forth to denounce the health consequences of exposure to these small blood-sucking insects.

"It's a real public health problem," she explained to 20 minutes.

The bedbug is a disaster for mental health, with sleep disturbances, anxiety, post-traumatic syndromes linked to disinfection, social isolation.

Those who have gone through these long months of sleepless nights, for fear of going to bed or turning over their mattresses will therefore not be surprised to know that these pests send 70,000 people to the doctor each year, according to a study published in July.
