China News Service, Chongqing, October 14 (Reporter Liu Xianglin) The reporter learned from the Shapingba District Bureau of the Chongqing Public Security Bureau on the 14th that the bureau recently cracked a case of a large-scale counterfeit cigarette production and sale gang.
The police arrested 47 suspects, destroyed 6 counterfeit cigarette dens, seized 48 counterfeit tools such as large cigarette making machines, seized 3.89 million finished counterfeit cigarettes and 50 tons of shredded tobacco. The amount involved was more than 50 million yuan.

In July this year, the Public Security Bureau of Shapingba District received a report saying that someone had bought a cigarette machine in Zhangzhou, Fujian, and went to Chongqing.
After receiving the report, the police immediately set up a task force to investigate.
After a month and a half of intensive investigation, a counterfeit cigarette production and sales gang with Wang as the leader and integrated operation of supply, production, transportation and marketing emerged.

As the case involved many dens, long battle lines, large spans, many suspects, and scattered personnel, in order to enable all suspects to be brought back to the case in time, the task force carefully formulated an arrest plan and intensively mobilized Chongqing Nanchuan District Public Security Bureau and Chongqing Tobacco Monopoly Bureau Inspection Team, etc. The forces acted simultaneously to arrest all 47 suspects including Wang and other places in Wuxin Village, Banan District, Chongqing, and destroy 6 dens that store, manufacture and sell fake cigarettes.

Upon investigation, Wang and other suspects began planning matters related to the manufacture and sale of counterfeit cigarettes in May this year.
In order to conceal people, the suspect chose to locate the counterfeit cigarette production and sales bases in remote bungalows in Jieshi Town and Nanpeng Town, Banan District, Chongqing, and purchase cigarette machines, large cellophane packaging machines and other professional equipment through smuggling and other illegal channels to implement fraud.
The gang has a clear hierarchy, clear division of labor, and professional processes to ensure the integrity of the entire counterfeit cigarette manufacturing chain and carry out illegal and criminal activities in the manufacture and sale of counterfeit cigarettes.
At present, 47 people including the suspect Wang Mou have been taken criminal compulsory measures, and the case is under further investigation.
