Two college students were arrested in Machida, Tokyo, for trying to threaten cash by breaking into a house under the guise of inspecting firefighting equipment.

In the metropolitan area, there are a series of robbery cases pretending to be inspections of gas and electricity, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating it as if the same group is involved.

The arrested were a university student in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture, Tatsuya Matsumoto (21) and a dismantler in Soka City, Saitama Prefecture, Tatsuya Ganoko (23).



According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, on the 5th of last month, they broke into a house in Machida, Tokyo, pretending to be an inspection of firefighting equipment, tied up an 86-year-old man and threatened to "tell me the location of the safe" and tried to steal cash. There is a suspicion of robbery and other injuries.



The man was seriously injured for a month.



Four days after the incident, police officers found them trying to break into another house in Adachi Ward, asked them about their duties, and arrested them on suspicion of robbery.



According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, they all admitted to the investigation and said, "I applied for a dark part-time job that I was looking for on Twitter. A person instructed me where and how to enter the robbery, and I was told that I would receive 1 million yen as a reward. It means that it is stated as such.



In Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba, there have been more than 10 cases of robbery disguised as gas, electricity, and firefighting inspections since August, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating that the same group is involved.
