Recently, an abandoned old well in a resident's home in Weicheng Township, Youxian District, Mianyang, Sichuan, suddenly "fed a fever". The water temperature reached more than 70 degrees Celsius, and white smoke was drawn from the well.

The old well with a fever is located in the backyard of Ou Youfu's home in Weicheng Town.
Old Ou brought out a bucket of water from the well, and white smoke wafted from all around the well.
"The water in the well is still hot now." Ou Youfu said. On the morning of the 13th, the staff in Weicheng Town also brought a thermometer. The water temperature measured was more than 30 degrees Celsius.
According to Lao Ou, the incident happened half a month ago. He discovered that the electricity consumption in his home was extremely large. Suspected that the pump in the well in the courtyard was leaking, he opened the manhole cover.
"As soon as the manhole cover is opened, there is a burst of hot gas." Lao Ou used a thermometer to measure the temperature of the well water reached more than 70 degrees Celsius.
Afterwards, he cut off the water pump.
However, the power to the pump was cut for more than 10 days, but the temperature of the water in the well has been "high fever", still more than 30 degrees Celsius.
"The local people said that my well has become a hot spring."
Ou Youfu said that this old well was used to provide domestic water for the residents of Chang Town. Later, the town was given tap water and this well was abandoned.
"I took it from my relatives last year to open a car wash." Ou Youfu said that since taking over last year, there has been no similar situation. I don't know why the well water suddenly heats up?
"I also hope this is a hot spring, that would be fine." Ou Yufu said.

Ou Youfu reported this phenomenon to the local government, hoping that experts can find the reason for the increase in water temperature.
Wang Ling, a staff member of the Weicheng Township Government, said that they went to the site to measure the water temperature and it was “really higher”.
They have reported to the Natural Resources Bureau of Youxian District and invited relevant experts to the site for further investigation.
On the morning of October 14, the 909 Hydrogeological Team of the Sichuan Geological and Mineral Bureau sent experts to the site for survey.
The experts first measured the depth and temperature of the well water: the depth of the well was 6.2 meters, and the depth of the water was 3.9 meters; the water temperature was 40°C, which was significantly lower than the previous few days.
Experts also analyzed the geographical conditions of the place: Weicheng Town is located at the edge of the basin, in a red bed area, and the geological structure is not developed. In addition, the wells are relatively shallow, without any gas, and the wells have been built for more than ten years. It is a geothermal phenomenon.
Experts believe that from the current situation that the water temperature has been significantly reduced, the most likely cause of heat in the well is the aging of the pump in the well and the leakage of electricity to heat the water. It is not ruled out that it is caused by the waste water discharged from the surrounding factories or the heating pipe passing by.
Experts finally told everyone that this is just an ordinary civil water well, and the water temperature will naturally return to normal in a few days.
