34 people arrested for fraudulent sustainability benefits Self-confidence and consultations one after another October 13, 18:09

34 people have been arrested so far due to a series of fraudulent receipts of "sustainable benefits" provided to businesses affected by the new coronavirus.

On the other hand, there are cases in which the police say, "I cheated with ease, but I became anxious."

In July, a man in his thirties living in the Kanto region met a man who was familiar with sustainable benefits through an acquaintance.

The man worked as a temporary worker last year, but is now unemployed, has no business, and is not eligible for benefits.

However, the man said that he could easily get the benefits, and instructed the man to send materials describing the occupation and sales of the lie, file a final tax return at the tax office, and prepare the necessary documents.

After that, he applied for a benefit with the content that the sales of the man's business decreased significantly by acting on behalf of the man, and about two weeks later, 1 million yen was transferred from the country.

The man charged 200,000 yen as a commission, and the man paid it.

The man said, "Because of this age, I thought that if I had money, I wouldn't be in trouble, and if I didn't need to repay, I wouldn't have to do it. I went through the procedure with an easy feeling. I was surprised that it would be easy to pass the examination, "he said.

However, I was gradually worried about the case of being arrested for illegal receipt of sustainability benefits in the news, and last month I submitted the documents I used for the procedure to the police as evidence.

The man said, "I spent every day scared of being caught by the police. I regret it now."

According to the National Police Agency, 34 people have been arrested nationwide for fraudulent receipt of sustainable benefits, but there are cases in various places where, like men, after cheating, they self-confess to the police or consult with an attorney. It means that they are one after another.

In addition, about 200 consultations have been received at consumer service centers nationwide, such as "I received a benefit but want to refund it."

The police are calling for "awareness that cheating with a light heart can be a serious crime."

Is procedure simplification one of the causes of fraudulent succession?

Sustainable benefits are a system that provides up to 2 million yen to small and medium-sized enterprises and up to 1 million yen to individual businesses if their income drops significantly due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

It has been pointed out that one of the factors behind the succession of fraudulent receipts is that the procedure is simpler than other subsidies in order to provide prompt payments.

All applications can be made online without going to the counter, and it is permitted to shoot and send with a smartphone without submitting the original documents.

If you prepare a tax return and sales ledger and apply, the actual situation is that the benefits are transferred in about two weeks with almost no inquiries for examination.

By the 5th of this month, the amount of benefits was about 3.46 million, amounting to about 4.5 trillion yen.

In the cases arrested by the police so far, there are cases where the tax return was illegally received based on a copy of the final tax return due to fictitious sales, and there were cases where the final tax return itself was forged, and it has been pointed out that the check system is insufficient. ..
