Demonstration experiment of inspection of power transmission equipment with drone Hiroshima Fuchu October 13, 4:11

A demonstration experiment was conducted in Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture on the 12th, in which a drone was flown to inspect power transmission equipment without visual monitoring.

Approximately 30 people from the Chugoku Electric Power Network and the city, which are engaged in power transmission projects, participated in the experiment conducted in the mountains of Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture.

In the experiment, an 80 cm square drone equipped with three cameras was used, and it flew for about 10 minutes by autopilot along a round-trip 2 km route between the towers through which power lines run.

The person in charge played back the video taken by the returned drone and carefully checked whether there was any construction using a crane directly under the electric wire and whether there was a landslide around the tower. ..

According to the Chugoku Electric Power Network, inspections of power transmission equipment have been done by helicopter so far, and if the inspection by drone can be put into practical use, the cost is expected to be significantly reduced.

Toru Fujiyama, manager of the Chugoku Electric Power Network Technology Advancement Group, said, "I was able to confirm the image with a stable flight like a helicopter. ..
