Five years later, the so-called "Osaka Metropolis Plan" abolished the ordinance-designated city of Osaka on January 1, 1945, and like the 23 wards of Tokyo, "Yodogawa ward," "Kita ward," "Chuo ward," and " It is going to be reorganized into four special wards of "Tennoji Ward".



A referendum on the pros and cons of this will be announced on the 12th to more than 2.2 million voters in Osaka City.



Voting will take place on the 1st of next month, and regardless of the turnout, it will be passed if there is a large number of votes, and it will be decided to abolish Osaka City and establish a special ward.



If the number of opposition is the same as or the number of approval, it will be rejected and the current city of Osaka will continue to exist.



Regarding the "Osaka Metropolis Plan", in May 2015, five years ago, a referendum was held with a different plan from this time to reorganize into five special wards, and the majority opposed, and the mayor of Osaka at that time changed the political world. He expressed his intention to retire.



This time, among the major political parties of the Osaka Prefectural Assembly and the Osaka City Council, in addition to the Osaka Restoration Association, which promotes the "city plan," the Komeito, which opposed the previous time, is in favor.



On the other hand, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Communist Party continue to oppose the previous time.



Pros and cons are expected to start full-scale efforts from the 12th toward the election day on the 1st of next month.
