“God save the queen… and the prince save the planet”

, one could almost chanted among the British as Prince William has been on all ecological fronts for some time.

This Saturday, he again called for solving the climate crisis in the current decade so as not to "sacrifice everything we love", in a video released during a virtual event bringing together personalities from around the world, including Pope Francis.

In this 18-minute pre-recorded intervention, a short excerpt of which was already available on YouTube, the Duke of Cambridge sounds the urgency to unite to find viable solutions against global warming.

Countdown timer and extendable goals

“The shared goals of our generation are clear.

Together we must protect and restore nature, purify our air, revive our oceans, build a world without waste and find a solution to end (the crisis) of the climate ”, urges the one who recently launched“ Earthshot ”, an award aimed at rewarding people, companies, organizations, governments, cities and even countries that offer viable solutions to the climate crisis.

“We must strive to do so during this decade.

If we do, by 2030 our lives will not deteriorate and we will not have to sacrifice everything we love.

On the contrary, the way we live would be healthier, cleaner, smarter and better for everyone, ”argues, facing the camera with a tree in the background, the prince sporting a casual blue shirt.

The Pope, Thor and the European Union also present

Entitled "Countdown", the initiative is organized by the TED conference platform, a network specializing in the dissemination of ideas.
