The danger of drinking coffee "on an empty stomach"

Research conducted by a group of specialists from the University of Bath in Britain showed that drinking coffee on an empty stomach carries with it many risks to the body.

The specialists studied the results of blood analysis of 29 volunteers, to search for a link between insulin levels and coffee consumption on an empty stomach, as it was found that drinking a cup of coffee in the morning can lead to metabolic disorders.

Then the participants were given coffee with sugar after waking up, as the calorie content in it was equal to a regular breakfast.

At the other stage, they would be woken for a few minutes every hour, to drink black coffee, then a sweet drink.

The researchers found that lack of sleep and coffee consumption negatively affected blood sugar levels, which increased by 50%.

The researchers attributed this to the body's inability to absorb glucose immediately upon waking.

After the results of this study, specialists recommended not to drink coffee on an empty stomach, but during or after breakfast, as this will reduce health risks.
