Maine-et-Loire is not, however, one of the departments most affected by Covid-19, but current health data confirms the resurgence of active circulation of the virus in the department, announced this Friday morning, the prefecture of 49.

"The health situation of the department has led me to make it compulsory to wear a mask for people over 11 in public spaces," explains the prefect in a press release, now in 26 towns.

This decision was taken in consultation with the regional health agency (ARS).

Eight additional municipalities

The obligation to wear a mask is therefore extended in 18 municipalities until October 24 inclusive: Angers, Trélazé, Avrillé, Bouchemaine, Cholet, Saumur, Beaupréau - associated municipality of Beaupréau-en-Mauges, Écouflant, Le Plessis-Grammoire, Saint-Barthélemy-d'Anjou, Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire, Saint-Clément-de-la-Place, Savennières, Cantenay-Épinard, Montreuil-Juigné, Mûrs-Érigné, Maulévrier, Saint-Martin-du-Fouilloux, perimeter circumscribed to the square des Marronniers, the rue du Petit Anjou and the rue de la Liberté.

Eight municipalities are added (part of the mask from Saturday and until October 24 inclusive): Morannes sur Sarthe-Daumeray, Pouancé, Le Lion-d'Angers, Tiercé, La Séguinière, Saint-Florent-le-Vieil , Segré-en-Anjou-Bleu and Chalonnes-sur-Loire.

On the other hand, in Beaucouzé and Le May-sur-Evre, the obligation to wear a mask has been lifted.
