• Interview.Joan Pons: "Without volunteers there is no vaccine. I would repeat"

Joan Pons, a Spanish nurse who participates as a

volunteer in the trials of the vaccine against Covid-19

prepared by the AstraZeneca laboratory with the University of Oxford, has tested positive for the disease, although he does not yet know if he has received the vaccine or just a placebo.

Through his Twitter account, Joan Pons, a resident of the United Kingdom, has explained that he

began to feel bad on Thursday

, with the classic symptoms of a cold, but that when he underwent the PCR test he was surprised to see that the result was positive.

"Today I was scared to death: what we were all waiting for has happened and that is that one of my tests was positive," said Pons, who

has isolated himself at home.

The nurse assured in a video that "the only way to know if the vaccine is effective is for the vaccinated to become infected."

"Hopefully that is the case, that they have given me the vaccine and not the placebo, that will be said in the next few hours," he added.

Pons has insisted that

he is well

and that the symptoms he suffers so far are mild.
