The Swedish entries make up 20 percent of the competing series which, in addition to Sweden, come from Finland, Norway, France, Israel, Russia and the United Kingdom.

In addition to Parasit (including Fares Fares) and Top dog (including Josefine Asplund), Norwegian Atlantic Crossing also competes with Sofia Helin in the lead role as the Swedish-Norwegian princess Märtha who went into exile during World War II and became an important political player.

Canneseries was started in 2018 - three years after the Cannes Film Festival director said that TV series "never" will have their own section at the film festival.
