China News Service, October 9th. On October 7, the supporting interactive project of "Badaling Great Wall and Hadrian's Wall: World Cultural Heritage Dialogue Exhibition"-the "Great Wall Impression" parent-child theme paper-cutting activity was held at the small square of Wangjing Temple in the Badaling Great Wall scenic spot Held.

Parent-child family took a group photo with their own excellent works

The event invited Ma Junxiao, a professional teacher of paper-cutting at the Yuxian Paper-cutting Art School in China, and Wang Xiaocui, a paper-cutting teacher at the Yuxian Paper-cutting Art School of China, as on-site guidance.

More than ten parent-child families who participated in the activity completed dozens of paper-cut works on the theme of the Great Wall culture under the guidance of the teacher. They learned intangible cultural heritage skills in a joyful atmosphere, learned about the Great Wall culture, and enhanced the exchanges and interactions between the families. The precious memories of the Great Wall are preserved in the form of physical paper-cuts.

Yuxian paper-cutting is a local traditional hand-cutting technique of Yuxian County, Hebei Province, and one of the national intangible cultural heritage.

Ma Junxiao made meticulous preparations for this event and set up three themes from easy to difficult according to the different ages of the children in the participating families: traditional cultural theme, Winter Olympics theme, and Great Wall theme.

Different from the characteristics of most folk paper-cutting made with scissors, Yuxian paper-cutting is made with a carving knife, which has higher technical requirements.

Before starting paper-cutting, Ma Junxiao first explained the tools and techniques of Yuxian paper-cutting to participating families, guiding families in terms of sitting posture, holding knife posture, angle of knife, safety with knife, and process steps.

The parent-child family listened carefully and attentively. With the ups and downs of the knife, vivid images came to light on the paper.

Visiting the Great Wall, watching exhibitions, and personally cutting paper-themed paper-cutting activities of "Great Wall Impression" set up the above activity sequence, so that participating families can step by step, intuitively feel the magnificence of the Great Wall, and operate after fully experiencing the great wall. The impression is integrated into the paper-cut works.
